Man & Yung Thawipak

Man & YungMan (left) was born October 19th, 1972 in the city of Khon Kaen which is in Northeast Thailand also called Isaan. He was raised in a Buddhist family and most of his relatives were Buddhist as well. After he finished highschool, he went to a techical college which was also in Khon Kaen.

Man became a Christian in 1998 but it wasn't easy. There was a man (a pastor) who came to talk to him about Jesus. At first he didn’t believe the first time but the pastor never gave up and kept sharing with Man about God and Jesus. Around that time, he was also having many personal problems and he was feeling very stressed out. Man just couldn't deal with anything. He realized that he needed help and nothing else was working. That is when Man decided to accept Christ into his life in 1998.

After Man became a Christian, he decided to do a Discipleship Training School with YWAM here in Thailand. That was also in 1998 in the city of Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand. The lecture phase was incredible and Man learned so much about God. After the lecture phase, the school went on outreach both in Southern Thailand and Northern Thailand. It was an amazing experience.

Yung was born into a non-Christian family. She has eight brothers and sisters. Because her father died while she was still young, she has always been in search of her father's love. As she was looking for this kind of love, she discovered God's love in 1999. At first she didn't understand everything about God but she grew to truly know God and His love once she did her DTS in 2000. Yung now knows that He is her true Father and that He will always take care of her. He will never leave her or forsake her whenever she might have problems. From this time on Yung decided to follow His ways and serve Him in Thailand and especially the Thai people, proclaiming His name.

Following their DTS, Man and Yung met and they soon got married. They have now been married for 8 years. They also have two beautiful sons, Matthew and Amos. Since they graduated from DTS, they have been working on staff with YWAM Khon Kaen, for almost 8 years now. From the last DTS there have been about 11 students who are now serving the Church and also YWAM, and we are so grateful for them.

KK DTS 2007Currrently, Man and Yung were staffing the 2007 DTS with Man serving as the school leader. We had 12 students and 10 staff. It was an awesome experience. The school was divided into three parts - lecture phase for 2 months, campus outreach for 4 months, followed by one month of outreach in a different location. The students learnedg many things about God including His character, His Father's heart, hearing His voice and inner healing.

Please pray for us that we would prepare our hearts for the next DTS in 2008. As well, pray for my wife and sons, that we would continue to serve God with all our hearts.

In the future, our family would love to run a school that relates to Family (FMS). We have been praying that God will lead us and open the door to start this school. The reason that we want to run this school is because we would like to see family member serve the Lord together. As well, we hope that this would help lower the divorce rates and show people how to have healthy relationships within the family. Having done this kind of school already, we have seen the benefits and would love to share our experiences with our Thai families.
