My
name is Gaan. My real name is Rungrat Yotisan. I’m 25 years
old. I come from Khon Kaen province, which is in Northeastern Thailand.
I come from a family of seven children, and I’m the youngest.
I was born into a Buddhist family, and I’m the only Christian
in my family and even in my whole village.
When I was 13 years old, my mom and dad didn’t have money
to send me to school. As a result I had to serve as a novice monk
in order to continue studying until I was 15 years old. .
I became a Christian when I was 20 years old. I came to Bangkok
to study at university with money I borrowed from the government.
I had the opportunity to meet Christians during my first year, both
foreigners and other Thai students.
A DTS outreach team that was staying at Baan Jai Diaw shared the
story of Jesus with me through English teaching. I was interested
in English, but didn’t believe the stories about God. More
than that, I thought it was embarrassing for a Thai Buddhist to
change and become a Christian. And I didn’t believe that God
could really help me. Six months later I was tired from studying
and working, and also lonely. I had lots of non-Christian friends,
but they weren’t able to help me. That’s when I remembered
the time that I had met a group of Christians who had told me, "Come
to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest"
(Matthew 11:28). It was like a revelation from God – the first
for me. I wanted to know God. Who is God? Can God really help me?
I thought about this for several days. Then I decided to move and
live at Baan
Jai Diaow. (House of One Heart)
God changed my life when I was a new Christian; I had a lot more
opportunities to learn about and get to know God more through the
Bible teaching in the classroom by the missionary who was staff
at house of one heart. Having a foundation in knowing God is such
an important thing. I had the great privilege of working with the
YWAM Outreach Teams department as a translator. I got to go upcountry
with incoming teams and share the gospel along side them. I did
this until I was 22 years old and in my fourth year at university.
Then God called me to study DTS
in Chiang Mai. God is the provider of everything! I drew even
closer to God during my time at DTS. When I completed my DTS in
the beginning of 2004, God revealed himself and told me clearly
that he was calling me to continue working with YWAM. And involve
Outreach Teams department as I had before. I am so thankful to God!
Currently,
I am working in Outreach Teams Department as full time staff of
Ywam Thai national office. Also I am helping do visa run for ten
missionaries who serving God in Thailand for a long time. This is
the way that I love to serve them.
My vision is to work in the area of evangelism. I want to lead teams
to share the gospel and open an English center in my hometown, and
at my school. I want to have a part in discipline new Christians
so that they have more of a burden for
serving the Lord. I want to lead my immediate family and relatives
to know the Lord. I want to work with YWAM and have a part in different
ministries of YWAM.
I also recently got married to my beautiful wife Poi who works with
Kings Kids here in YWAM Thailand. We are thankful to how God lead
us together and how fun married life is!
I really need prayer for the following things:
1. Please pray for our financial support.
2. Please pray for my life that it will impact to other people and
humble heart, surrender to God. My heart want to see more Thais
people to know God, so pray for my heart will broke for them.
3. Please pray the protection in physical and spirit when I go with
team.
4. Please pray for me will know God deeper and hear God’s
voice clearly in each day. Also pray for my heart will hungry to
know the word of God and praying.
I thank you, my brothers and sisters, for your prayers. And thanks
to those of you who have a burden to financially support me –
sharing in ministry as God works through me, and keeping up with
my stories through regular communication.
