Hi there, my name is Sumarut Phaingam but you can call me "Zee". I’m now 29 years old. I come from the province of Kamphaeng Phet which is located in the central part of Thailand.
I came to know God through an outreach team that came to the University that I had been studied. The team had introduced me a Christian dormitory which I knew later that it was one of the student ministry of YWAM Thailand which is called "Baan Jai Diaw" or "House of One Heart". As I recalled, when I first came to Baan Jai Diaw, I didn’t feel like knowing God at all but instead I wanted to practice English, but then after I had a chance to hang out and participated in many of their activities. I started to enjoy the way they fellowship to each other. I observed that they were so caring and helping. They were also polite and never encouraged me to do wrong things, because of this I started to open my heart and began to study the word of God. I had been continued to do that for about 2 years then I decided to accept Christ into my heart and then got baptized. After I become a Christian, I had an opportunity to volunteer for different kind of ministries, including Outreach Teams, Baan Jai Diaow, and King’s Kids was one of them.
After I graduated from the University, I decided to take DTS or Discipleship Training School. To get to know God and the plan God had for me. After DTS, I decided to take another training school which was called "PCYM" or "Principles in Child and Youth Ministry". Through PCYM, I got to understand the heart of God for children, teens and families. I was so encouraged and excited for new passion that God had filled into my life.
After I finished PCYM, I didn’t decide what to do yet so I looked for work outside and then worked for about 10 months. Then God had been spoken to me to come back on mission field. At first, I wasn’t sure if it was His calling because I had no money or support if I had to quit my job but because God said to have faith in Him so I am now back on mission field again and serving along with King’s Kids as a full-time staff. I have been working wtih King's Kids for the past 2 years.
I am currently helping as part of YWAM Emergency Response Team, going out and assisting people who have been affected by the recent floods in Thailand. As the floods are receding, we are currently going out helping people clean up their houses and neighborhoods, as part of an ongoing effort.
