Kaem Saksai

Ratchaburi

KaemMy name is Chayanan Saksai, but my friends call me Kaem. I was born in a Buddhist family in Yasotorn Province, in the North East of Thailand. I was married before and was working when I got caught up in the world of gambling. I became addicted and started to build up a huge debt. My gambling addiction destroyed my family and I decided to try and find another solution to solve my problems.

I needed money to pay back my debts and decided to go and look for someone who could help me in Pattaya. I had heard that if you find a foreign husband sometimes they can help you financially. In Pattaya I found someone that I hadn’t expected to find, and that was Jesus.

I met someone who took me to the Tamar Center, one of YWAM Thailand’s ministries that reaches out to women on the streets on Pattaya. The Tamar Center helped me to know Jesus and understand how much He loves me. It was some time before I changed and while trying to understand all these things that were so new to me, I fell pregnant.

After my baby was born, the women at the Tamar Center encouraged me to come back and join in their 3 month training course. After I finished the training course I stayed on with the Tamar Center for a few months. I started to have some problems in my life that caused me to decide to leave the Tamar Center. It was during that time that I was living outside of the Tamar Center trying to find my own solutions to my problems that I realized that there really was no other way for me then to give my heart completely to God. It was then that God lead me to do my Discipleship Training School in Khon Kaen in March 2011.

During the DTS,I was seeking after God and he changed my heart, and my way of thinking about how I should live my life. It made me understand that money is not the most valuable thing in my life, but God. I want to give my whole life to God. When I had the opportunity to go on the outreach phase of my DTS I had the chance to help some children in a Karen village in Ratchaburi. I have never had the desire to work with children before and I didn’t have a good relationship with my own daughter, but when I started working with those children I felt that God was giving me a mothers heart so that I could love those children and my own daughter too. I decided to come and join YWAM Ratchaburi, and I trust that God will look after me and my daughter. I cannot wait to see the things that God has for my future.

Since joining YWAM Ratchaburi, I have had the opportunity to help serve in many areas. We have organized concerts in a local prison and university. We have been evangelizing and working with local churches, private organizations, and other organizations. We teach the Bible to Burmese children in the laborer camps, and with some Karen children as well.

It is on my heart to be a part of the lives of Karen children, that they will come to know God. I want to teach them the Bible and to see the people in their villages come to know God.I want to see these villages full of Christian families, to see revival amongst the Karen people.
