Meet Fon - Tamar Center Card Maker
Fon is from Chiang Rai Province, 33 years old and has two sons,
13 and 6.
Grade 4 Education
She has been working at Tamar for a year.
 Fon
got married at the age of 20. Her husband was an alcoholic and had
a problem with gambling. She worked at a semi-precious stone farm
to take care of her children and to pay food and accommodation.
He was a vendor, spending all his money on gambling and drinks.
When he started to ask her for money to spent she left for Bangkok
first and ended up coming to Pattaya. She worked at a bar for nine
months before joining Tamar.
Fon heard about the Tamar Center through one of the parties we host
for bargirls several times a year. At the party Fon wondered how
these people could love each other and care so much for her and
the other girls.
 After
the party things got worse, a client she had been with for 15 days
didn’t pay her in the end and she started feeling very sad
and depressed. She wanted someone to talk to and remembered the
people from the party and eventually ran into one of our staff who
invited her back to English class.
But for financial reason she kept working in the bar, hoping that
she might meet a rich man one day. During that time she went with
many men, started drinking a lot and became very depressed until
finally on a day at the beach she just wanted to walk into the sea
and drown, when she heard a voice say “stop it, don’t
hurt yourself” and a picture of our staff member appeared
in her mind.
 She
tried to call Tamar Center – 2 times no answer and she thought
that if nobody answered the third time, she would kill herself because
she wanted to be with God, whom she heard about at the party. The
third time she tried to phone, one of our staff answered and told
her to come and talk with people here. She did, and felt so much
love and care again, and wanted to stay. That day she made a decision
to stay at Tamar Center and change her life.
Since then God has made her stronger. She is happy and God has helped
her so much and helps her every day and she wants to be alive so
that she can tell everyone how wonderful God is.
PRAYER REQUESTS
She believes and trusts in God and would like prayer for her sons.
She would like them to be good sons and take care of themselves
and the sister told her that the son has asked for her mom to come
back and she thinks now that if she had killed herself in the sea,
she would not have been alive now and it was only because of God’s
voice she heard and He led her to the Tamar Center. But she wants
her sons to understand.
