Meet Deng - Tamar Center Card Maker
Name: Wadsanaa Gawaree
Age: 38 years old
Family: One son - 6 years old
Schooling: Grade 12 Education
Currently: Has been working at Tamar for 9 months now.
 She
lived in Chiang Mai where she had a business (restaurant) with her
husband. They were married for 7 years. During that time they made
a lot of debt trying to live a good life. The last two years their
business was not doing well and they ended up losing everything
including their marriage. They got divorced about a year ago. Even
though she sold everything she owned to pay for all their debts
it still was not enough. Due to her age she could not go back to
her old job so she had to look for a new job. She ended up coming
to Pattaya in November 2005 to work in one of the many bars here.
She got in contact with a lady from the Baptist Church who she studied
English with every morning. The lady also gave her a bible to read
and as she read it she felt happier and more at peace.
 On
Christmas day, she had lots of problems because she didn’t
enjoy working in the bar. She wanted to commit suicide and as she
was thinking of how to do it she suddenly had the picture of her
sons in her mind and she prayed to God to give her something good
and to change her life. That same day this teacher called her to
tell her that God loves her very much and then she knew that God
was alive and cared about her. Deng told her teacher that she no
longer wanted to work in the bar and the teacher recommended her
to go to the Tamar Center. At the time Tamar Center was too full
so she went to stay with her friend for a month. But she stayed
in touch with her teacher until she eventually introduced her to
Nella and she was able to join the Tamar Center in February 2006.
She was very impressed with the way people loved and accepted her
at church. They had a feet-washing-ceremony and the Pastor himself
washed her feet. Usually once you have worked in a bar it is difficult
to meet new people or get a job because they look down on you. She
started working at the Tamar Center in February and is very happy
to get to know God more and to feel loved and accepted and have
a new job.
 After
she started working at Tamar Center, she still thought about all
her problems in the past and she felt hopeless because she couldn’t
concentrate for long because her mind was so busy and confused.
But while she was working on the cards, she heard God speak to her
“give your brain a rest”. She had never thought that
she could make cards or anything using her hands and had no confidence
in this. So she prayed about it and God gave her the confidence
to believe that she could do it and she started making the cards
and has felt good since then. Now she knows that God will help her
with making cards. She knows that she is no longer alone and God
gives her power, confidence and will show her the way and will give
her the concentration and plan to go in the future. She is happy.
PRAYER REQUESTS
She would like everyone to pray for her because she lost her way
in the past and she wants to help the women who had a problem like
her and to encourage them to not give up in life and to trust in
God because He can change their lives too. And God will give new
life to them in the same way as He has done for her.
Note from Tamar:
Deng took part in our training program this year, at the end of
which she got baptized. Right now she is working in our Beauty/Hair
Salon and is getting ready to start her DTS
in Chiang Rai in January.
