Ethnic Minorities

Ethnic Minorities

Thailand is comprised of many different groups and ethnicities. These groups have been living in Thailand and the surrounding nations for thousands of years. They are often not defined by their nationalities as much as their ethnic backgrounds.

Many ethnic groups living in Thailand have their own languages, traditions, and cultures, and thus the most effective ways to minister to them often differ from the majority of Thai people.

YWAM Thailand seeks to communicate the gospel to these various groups by reaching out to them where they are and through means that make sense to their unique cultures and world views. Because these groups are not only found in Thailand, the ministries reaching out to them must also abandon their borders and love these groups wherever they might be.

The three largest ethnic minority groups that YWAM Thailand specifically reaches out to are the Shan people, the Karen people, and the Akha people.

To learn more about these various groups and how YWAM Thailand is serving them, as well as how you can be involved, please follow the links to their specific ministries.
