We help people Step Ahead 3 Ways.
- Savings Facilitation
- Microloans for small business
- Training, Mentoring, Encouragement & Prayer
What is Microfinance, Microcredit, Microenterprise Development?
Microenterprise Development means making savings, small loans, and training available to the poor to help them start income generating activities.
Why Microfinance as Ministry?
The Biblical basis is strongly shown here in Isaiah 42:
"A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he shall bring forth justice. He will not falter or be discouraged, 'til he establishes justice on the earth."
Microfinance can bring mega results.
In Thailand, a microloan of around $200 can bring big results in terms of opening up economic opportunities to a poor family. That means more income for better foods, shelter, healthcare and education. In contrast, the local moneylender is used to extracting an average 20% per month from his poor clients.
Microfinance builds personal responsibility and dignity.
The poor of Bangkok are not looking for a hand out, but a hand up. Microfinance opportunities makes the poor responsible for increasing their incomes and bringing blessing to their families through starting or building up their own small businesses.
Training and mentoring can be practical pre-discipleship.
Weekly Step Ahead meetings with program staff not only make for loan repayment and savings facilitation, but also become powerful opportunities to use cutting edge personal development materials mingled with faith, love, and applicable scriptural teaching.
